Mirza Aditya, a student at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the University of Persada Indonesia, Y.A.I (UPI YAI), believes that to reduce misuse of social media or 'cool' the heat of political temperatures in elections, millennials must be more selective in using social media.
Like on Twitter, the man who is familiarly called Mirza prefers to use accounts of politicians or influencers who have already been verified. Thus it will reduce the hoax that can add to the political commotion ahead of the 2019 Presidential Election.
"In my opinion, it depends on the social media used. For example on Twitter, there are a lot of their influencers who have been verified, so the content they post is more reliable," said the seventh semester student to the IDN Times in Jakarta, Thursday (11/22 )
According to Mirza, unclear accounts will usually spread provocative content. Therefore, according to him, you should avoid these accounts.
"No effort is ignored. The accounts usually make the atmosphere even worse. We have to choose an account that is verified, more selective about using social media," he said.
2. Do not vilify other potential choices and focus on providing support to potential choices

Fatru, the sixth semester student at the Pancasila University has other views and ways to reduce the misuse of social media, so as not to increase the political temperature to heat up before the election.
"In general, on social media that is heating up millennials, who fight them too. So I think that it will raise awareness about using social media well. Compared to dropping political opponents, it is better to support the pair they support, rather than looking for adversity," he said.
The student, full name Fatru Qalbie Septizar Akbar, also agreed with Mirza, to avoid unverified accounts.
"It doesn't need to be ignored if there are unclear accounts or destroying the situation, there are many accounts that are not clear, and search for clear news sources. There are many media that are not clear. (So) we have to filter incoming info, "said the 21-year-old man.
3. Millennials can create creative content that builds on social media

Meanwhile, Siti Diana Safitri, a student at Open University Communication Studies, believes that millennials can build a peaceful and polite political atmosphere through creative content in social media.
"This millennial generation should be able to cheer up, that the presidential election is a democratic people's party. Can YouTubers make content about the 'different is beautiful' election, or 'Indonesia peace.' Because I see there are no millennial YouTubers who raise it, maybe because it's too extreme, and it should be able to create interesting content, so that it can educate other millennial friends, "said the 23-year-old woman.
